Ratepayers deserve efficient, focused and sustainable councils

I am fully supportive of local government reform which is led by the State Government.

The inefficiencies and opportunity cost of having 29 local government councils are obvious. It's already known that several of our smaller councils will not be financially viable in the medium term.

All structural options should be thoroughly explored, including amalgamations, centralising selected services to the economies of scale, and boosting buying power by multiple Council's working together on core service delivery.
